What a top top weekend so far !!! with less wind forecast today it was always going to be a big kit day. With wall to wall sunshine and an early high water I was not in any hurry to get down so Mag and I started the day with a bike ride to the River Orwell at Landguard for breakfast :) We disd a little coal collecting and boat watching - loads of yachts and two huge container ships leaving Felixstowe and turns diving in front of us :) When I got home I checked the weather and the wind was supposed to drop after dinner so I headed straight down at midday, Swainy and Steve C had already rigged 8m + so I went with 8.5 on my 310 - the first time out on the sea !!! I was a bit under powered at first and on my first run out I noticed a yacht leaving the River Deben in the narrow rough channel and their anchor was swinging and hitting the front of the boat :( so I shouted to them about the anchor - one of them went forward to check it out - the next thing Swainy told me they had run aground on the shallow shingle bar with the tide going out - not good :( I felt a bit responsible but when I went ashore Swainy had also shouted at the same boat saying they were not in the deep water. After about half an struggling the yacht was pulled to safety by the ferry - hope they didn't have too much damage !!! I was having fun with Swainy sailing through the rough water in the river before heading across Bawdsey. The breeze had filled in a bit making it possible to get upwind so me and Swainy headed to the pier and then we had the most fantastic broad reach with Swainy filming it on his go-pro :) windsurfing dosen't get better than this !!!!! :) After a snack we did it again with the breeze a little less :( but still managed to plan all the way back - my best session of the year and am loving the 310 - nice lightwind board :)
